Ken Krekeler majored in graphic design in Detroit, Michigan at the College for Creative Studies. He graduated in 2009, the same year he released his first full-color graphic novel The Colodin Project, which was distributed globally through Diamond Distribution. In January of 2011, he began his own publishing company, Kinetic Press. It was under this label that he released his second book, Dry Spell; a compact super powers story also in full-color. In June of 2012 he began his own ongoing black-and-white comic book series Westward, a steampunk mystery comic book series exploring the nature of achievement and human happiness. Funded by Kickstarter, Westward managed to raise over $20,000 by devoted backers until the series concluded in 2016.
Since then, Ken has worked as a graphic designer and animator for several advertising agencies in the Michigan area, with heavy focus on concept design, video editing, motion graphics, and sound work. He has developed great facility with writing, directing, animating, and storyboarding videos for widespread promotion, as well as photo re-touching and web design. As a freelance conceptual designer for ES3, he supervised the development of more than 60 full-color conceptual art pieces, and with Team Detroit, designing numerous storyboard sequences for animation.
Ken currently lives in Detroit.
